Looking at the forecast i noted there was one week day in which it was set to precipitate and also remain well below freezing all day. I asked to work the sunday before so that i could have this day off. My request was granted. The electricity went off for a second but then came right back on. This means the well house had power and the heat lamp stayed on. The well did not freeze or bust. I was very happy about that as this winter was the first opportunity to really test the remodeled well house that was now wood and insulation instead of tin.

I could hear the little ice balls coming down overnight but i didnt get a good look at the landscape until the following morning. For context, i need any northerners reading this to understand that snow/ice is debilitating in a fracture of a centimeter to texans. One, we dont have tire chains. Two, we dont have scrapers. Three, we panic salt the roads a day in advance and then all the cars drive over it and push it right to the sides of the roads, and four, none of us have the slightest idea what if anything we should be changing about our driving in these conditions. If there is the presence of ice, everything basically grinds to a halt. Roads will close and businesses will not operate.

It was certainly beautiful though.
