I was having trouble being there for someone and remembering to never burden them with my problems or let them know i had had a bad day. When things went in the crapper in my own life, that was mine to handle. When things hit a snag in my friend’s life, also mine. I was a good listener but i had no one to lean on myself when things became stressful or discouraging. Stressed and desperate, i turned to horseback riding to cope. It worked. No matter what went wrong in my month, i knew on a certain date i would spend two hours on the back of a horse in the wilderness in the hill-country and for that time everything in the universe was okay. There is nothing better than being on the back of a horse.

Lefty is a very gentle horse but a grumpy old dude that continuously grunts and tosses his head endearingly in an attempt to express his displeasure in having to do the job while doing it perfectly. he is a haflinger and a retired amish work horse that now does trail rides with his brother, poncho.

This is Romeo, a Belgian Draft Horse the owner recently won in an east texas auction. My hat is pulled down so far, partially over my eyes, because it was so windy i was trying to get it to stay on my head during the ride.

Horses are good for the soul. Correction; riding horses is good for the soul. Owning horses is good for fostering character growth and may land you in the nuthouse.
