After the incident of the foggy morning where a guy drove a truck through my fence by going straight instead of curving with the road i realized that i needed to put up some kind of reflectors on the fence that would catch the headlights and provide some clue as to what was there on a foggy morning. I just didnt get around to it until the following year. The hardware store is in a town i no longer frequent very often and so i go about once every few months. Well, i found myself needing dog food so off i went to this nearby town and while i was there i stopped in the hardware store and picked up some reflectors. The only kind they had were on the end of long plastic sticks…as if these would be completely able to penetrate and stick into the limestone rock landscape here. I decided that rather than rent a jack hammer and pour cement i would just cut the reflectors off the sticks with the bolt cutters or possibly the sheers and then zip tie the remaining round pieces onto the fence where i wanted them.

They were just plastic so the sheers worked out pretty well to rid the reflectors of their sticks.

I then zip tied them onto the fence over the posts and i was done.

Perhaps this will make the fence a little bit easier to see on pea soup fog days because there really is a sharp curve in the road there and if you are anticipating the road will keep going straight, you will find yourself driving through a fence onto the property. I feel like now that im aware of this problem the responsible thing to do is to put something shiny and reflective there. It cant hurt.
