I had to wait for the last frost to plant the grass in the baby chickens’ pen. I didnt want it to freeze after id planted it. I emptied a whole bag of grass seed in there and covered it over with a thin layer of dirt, then watered it daily. Nothing happened. I mean nothing. Not one blade of grass emerged for weeks. I decided it was probably all eaten by birds, who have been known to come eat the grass seed after it is spread. I gave up and went on to do other things. A month later i walked by and noticed tiny little blades of grass! I guess a watched pot never does boil! They werent real impressive but i watered them every day after that nonetheless. When the baby chickens moved in they would have grass for about 12 hours. Thats as long as it took them to make sure it was gone. Oh well. They enjoyed it in the process of scratching it to high heaven and eating some of it. It was probably a nice interactive snack.
