I slept through all the alarms this morning and was startled awake by something i hadnt seen in a week; sun. For about an hour this morning the rain took a nap and we had sun before the clouds reappeared. However, this was not the only reason i was surprised to see it. My tiny house only has windows on one side. The front porch is basically facing north. I get about fifteen minutes of sun coming through the windows on the right side of the house and this sunlight happens about half an hour after dawn. On weekdays i leave the house at 5 am, when its still dark. On weekends i usually get up at dawn, let the chickens out, feed and let the dogs out, and crawl back into bed. Im out in seconds. I usually miss this illuminating 15 minutes in which the tiny house is lit up with sunlight. For whatever reason i slept in this morning and i didnt miss it.
The light moves across the room more quickly than you would anticipate. From minute to minute it moves across the floor, bed, and wall. First your chin is in shadow, then your nose, your forehead, now the only light left is on the refrigerator, and then it is gone.
It was good to see the sun for a bit. Its currently gray and sprinkling again. Although, we did have a proper storm last night at about 3 am and the bucket outside had about an inch of water in it this morning. Im thankful for that. We need pouring rain to fill the rivers, not endless hours of off and on misting.
