My Porch Garden/Thawing Station

When the weather is hot outside i use the porch plant cages as a makeshift counter to thaw things from the refrigerator or freezer. Chickpea Flour and melted vegan butter into a ziploc freezer bag…quail and quail blood straight into bag…add a little bit of soy sauce…onto the parchment paper. No bowl was used to mix. No cookie sheet was dirtied in the process. I dont have to wash any dishes. My cooking style is “ziploc”, lol.

    1. It hasnt yet but it very well could. Im mostly worried about raccoons. I usually try to put stuff out in broad daylight while the nocturnal critters are sleeping and i open the window curtains so i can watch it. Nothing has made an attempt yet. Although i used to thaw stuff on the porch railing and now use the metal garden cage because ants will crawl on the packaging if you do leave it on a wood surface.

      1. I told a friend of mine that was having raccoon problems, “If you have to use locks to keep raccoons out, use a combination lock. If you use a key lock, I think the raccoons will get out a set of lock picks and open the lock.” 🙂

      2. They are the only mammal i would not feel guilty about dispatching. People think they’re cute because they look like bandits with the natural face mask about the eyes but they are a combination of crafty, determined, self involved, and homicidal that together puts them at the top of my shit list. I hate raccoons. With a capital H, because they’re in everything and even if there’s no possible way they can obtain the thing, they will make sure you cant use it. Example: if they cant get the chickens through the bars they will just put their little hands through, break all their necks, and run off to eat something else.
