The Pullets Ramp up Production

This is what i got out of the hen house one day after i hadnt been able to get in there for a couple days due to the wood door swelling during rainy weather.

The pullets started laying an egg a day with the arrival of warmer weather. in some cases it was in the 70s and 80s in the afternoons. The people who were getting eggs from me regularly had discovered free range eggs from homesteaders who had time and ability to stand guard over free ranging chickens and were no longer interested in mine. Im allergic to them so for a while they just backed up in the fridge and on the counter. Right when i decided to give up and just put them all on the compost pile some new people expressed an interest and so im collecting them again. I lost a dozen to the compost pile when i had a day from hell, the intended recipient declined them, i then forgot about them and left them in the hot car for hours. Those i broke over the compost pile. The new recipients will just have to wait a bit for me to build their cartons. I get very frustrated with how picky people are about their free eggs. Entitled **** ** *******. I know they’ve never known hunger when they look at me and say they wont take them because i dont free range my chickens and free range eggs just taste richer and more luxurious. That’s how i know they were not outside eating grasshoppers, cicadas, and dandelion greens during the pandemic. They are free eggs, fed with all natural feed and organic fruit and veg. Occasionally i do stay up and collect pill bugs, june bugs, and grasshoppers for them at night. But they cannot free range because they’d be dead. Ask my neighbors who all used to have chickens. Some of them dont have any and some of them just replace them frequently. My coworker just bought 30 chicks to replace all the chickens they lost free ranging. Unless you’re going to follow them around with a firearm, you’re just feeding the hawks, raccoons, ringtails, possums, coyotes, and foxes. They are literally free and yet many people act like im trying to give away rotting fish, to the point where i have to open, cook, and taste them every once in a while to see what it is that i’ve missed. I cant swallow the sunny side up egg because im allergic but i can chew and spit and all i can say is, it tastes like an egg.
