I was at a place of business. The door lock was sticking and making it difficult to lock and unlock the door at end and beginning of day. I asked the maintenance man to borrow some wd40. He said he didnt have any and walked away from me while i was talking, leaving me having a conversation with air. I asked if he could order some. He didnt answer or make any attempt at eye contact…just continued walking away. I went home, found my can of wd40, brought it to the place of business, and fixed the door lock. A week later the doorstop at the same place of business is on the floor, missing three of the four screws which once held it on the door. I ask the maintenance man for a screw and screwdriver saying i can put it back on. He says he is busy with the water main but will get it done later. I tell him i can take care of it now and he wont have to leave the water main job if he just gives me the two things i asked for. He says no. I go to the office and ask them if they still have the random screw i found on the floor in hall 1 a week ago. They do. I ask a coworker if they have a screw driver. They do. I put the one screw left and the random floor screw in a diagonal from each other so that the remaining two missing screws wont matter so much and i reattach the doorstop to the door, tightening the screws so its on there firmly. I return the screwdriver to the coworker i borrowed it from. At the end of the day, looking tired and defeated, he asks me what it is that’s broken about the doorstop because he looked and it seemed on there pretty good. I told him i borrowed a screw driver, found a stray screw, and fixed it. He looked very appreciative and thanked me. Guy number one remained unimpressed. Guy number two, at least i got a smile out of him in the end.
Look, if i do these things on my homestead, i can do them here. Its not like im rewiring or sawing through something. I just asked for a screwdriver and wd40. We’re a team. We have to work together and prioritize resources in order to get all things done in a timely manner. If you help me i can and will help you.
