Sumac Rejoins the Flock on the Homestead

I originally had 2 roosters but the one named mochi died. He came from the hatchery sick and i separated him and nursed him along for a bit but he never did grow a smidgeon and was very lethargic. He ultimately passed. Now i had a problem because i didnt like this experience with this hatchery so if i wanted chocolate orpingtons in the future, i needed to breed them. Well i had one healthy rooster but i needed 2 because i also wanted a rooster in the buff orpington pen to make buff chocolate cross babies. Well, the coworker i had given the remaining chickens to said she thought at least one was a rooster and if it was i was welcome to come get it because she’s not trying to have a ton of roosters. Sure enough, most of the chicks i gave her were roosters. That hatchery swore they were all hens. -_- anyways, i drove out to her property after work one day and picked one out that was clearly a rooster and her five year old grandson got in there and caught him. We put him in a cat taxi and i brought him home. I was hoping the little flock would recognize their brother and accept him and thats exactly what happened. I put him in the brooder box and they all behaved as if he’d never left for several weeks. They were like, “oh hey brother”….unbothered. It was the best case scenario. I would keep sumac with the older buff orpingtons and put the other rooster, jujube, with the young chickens.
