Ive gotten mixed feedback about whether pin oaks and spanish oaks will succumb to oak wilt. This tree is actually a cluster of 6 equally aged pin oaks stemming from the same patch of ground and the end result is perfection. The tree is so full and beautiful and each fall it turns bright orange before losing its leaves. I dont know how many years i will be blessed with its presence but i appreciate each new one i get with this magnificent tree. It never disappoints when it turns color. Im always stunned to see the vibrant orange. Im so used to live oaks. I never tire of looking at it. It will be like this a couple weeks and then they will turn brown and begin to drop. Then the next exciting stage will be brand new baby leaves ehich appear as brown buds, then pink and green baby leaves as they unfurl.
Out here we have juniper trees that are evergreens. Their cycle is “green” to “green with lots of little grey-blue berries and then back to green. I never really notice any blossoms, but they must be there.
In town, where the trees grow next to the creek, they go through the green to orange-yellow to grey and back to green. It seems the grey to green happens in just a few days and that means SPRING IS HERE.
