This year we’ve managed to have 1 or 2 days each week in which we get a fraction of an inch of rain. The plants are loving it. The landscape is lush and green. The consistent light rainfall is enough to sustain the vegetation indefinitely. However, the creeks are still bone dry and the Guadalupe River has a couple inches of water in it. I am severely worried though everyone tries not to say anything because what are we complaining about, we are getting weekly rain. what i am saying is that after four years of severe and punishing drought a fraction of an inch once a week for a year is not going to replenish the rivers and lakes for the next 3 year drought that is inevitably in the docket. If Texas is to survive the next drought without buying water in and storing it in above ground tanks…it needs to rain in biblical proportions. It needs to rain like it did when new york flooded its subways. It needs to rain like it did when california’s buildings were going down the hill in historic mudslides. We need the water. We keep praying for the water, and it is raining a fraction of an inch. All i can say is that i dont get to understand God’s plan before hand. We can only make sense of it in hindsight. For whatever reason, the creeks are meant to be dry right now.
